From June 4 to June 7, 2026, the first round of the ROYAL DRIFT SERIES kicked off with a bang at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit! As the world’s top-tier drifting series with the highest prize pool to date, this event brought together top professional drivers from both China and abroad to compete on the same stage. With extremely high technical standards and intense competition, it was a true showdown among the best—a top-tier professional arena where victory hinged on the slightest margin.

In the past, professional drift cars typically used a “dual rear caliper setup” to accommodate both service braking and handbrake-induced wheel lock: one set of brake calipers handled service braking, while another set of smaller calipers was dedicated to mechanically locking the wheels with the handbrake.
However, this traditional setup has a critical flaw: the two sets of calipers are heavy, the brake rotors are excessively thick, unsprung mass increases dramatically, the car’s response becomes sluggish, and the calipers are prone to deformation under load. Furthermore, the mechanical parking brake requires immense grip strength, leading to rapid driver fatigue during long races, and often results in soft braking and inconsistent wheel locking.
