The 2026 China Ring of the Tower International Rally, hailed as the “Dakar of the East,” officially kicked off in Urumqi on May 16. Spanning 17 days and covering a total distance of 7,500 kilometers—including 3,400 kilometers of special stages—the rally traverses the Tianshan Mountains from north to south and cuts deep into the heart of the Taklamakan Desert, making it the longest and most challenging edition in the event’s history.

The competition is currently in full swing: from sweeping the top four spots in the T1.1 Professional Modified class during qualifying to tackling the grueling desert and Gobi stages in the main race, the Chery factory team’s Tiggo 8 race car is facing the ultimate test of high temperatures, sandstorms, and continuous heavy braking over long distances—all powered by the stock Kunpeng 2.0T engine. The core technology ensuring the Tiggo 8’s stable braking, controlled heat fade, and safety throughout the extreme race is TTSPORT’s PB6 water-cooled braking system—specifically designed for off-road rallying. This professional-grade setup features six-piston calipers at both the front and rear, integrated with a self-contained liquid-circulating water-cooling system.

Meanwhile, Chery’s Zongheng brand is fielding two models—the G700 (an all-terrain luxury SUV) and the F700 (an all-purpose luxury off-road pickup)—in the T2.E Production New Energy Class, using the race as a test bed to validate the vehicles’ production-ready capabilities. In the future, the production versions of the Zongheng G700 and F700 will be exclusively equipped with TTSPORT racing-grade brake kits, allowing the cutting-edge technology honed on extreme race tracks to directly benefit civilian production models and provide users with stronger, more stable, and safer braking performance.

This year’s Ring Tower Rally features an extended route and increased difficulty:
✅ Total distance of 7,500 kilometers over 17 consecutive days, with 3,400 kilometers of special stages—the longest in the event’s history
✅ 60% desert, 28% Gobi Desert, and 12% gravel terrain, with surface temperatures frequently exceeding 60°C
✅ Long-distance desert sprints and continuous hard braking in the Gobi Desert result in extreme thermal loads, making brake fade, pad carbonization, and caliper overheating highly likely
✅ Dense clusters of soft sand, potholes, and high dunes make frequent starts and stops, along with high-intensity braking, the norm
Under these conditions, a standard braking system may experience a loss of pedal feel and reduced braking power after just a few rounds of hard braking, and there is even a risk of thermal runaway. With no room for retreat throughout the Huanta Rally, reliable braking equals rider safety and guarantees a successful finish.
